EUROPEAN DESIGN
Drawing from over 25 years of design experience, Peter Zatopek is an expert in realizing the realities of design through technology. Specializing in Microvellum and CAD design and drafting, Peter also has extensive experience drafting and designing custom interiors and fabricating high-end custom cabinetry. >>
Peter got to work on the new design challenge, leaning into his hallmark traits of detailed precision *and creative capacity. Capturing every detail of Kit and Jeff’s Sprinter in AutoCAD, Peter drafted several interior layouts until landing on the perfect combination that expresses LuxVan’s signature artistic design reinforced by high quality craftsmanship. His vision shines though in every detail of the van conversion.
Peter fuses a contemporary aesthetic with classic Japanese elements, encapsulating the philosophy of Shibui: understated and subtle beauty. Peter’s vision evolved through different iterations until the final product was just as functional and comfortable as it was beautiful. LuxVan was officially born.

OUR FOUNDERS
The concept for LuxVan was born during the early days of the pandemic, when many people started feeling the effects of being cooped up inside for too long. Resourceful Bay Area couple Kit and Jeff’s wanderlust kicked into high gear as they reminisced and shared fond memories about their childhood experiences on the road; while Jeff loved the idea of his family’s old ‘71 Westfalia in Sierra Yellow, something told them it wouldn’t be quite the same traveling this way at this stage in their lives. Kit felt particularly adverse to “roughing it” and wanted to ensure the experience would be as comfortable as possible. >>
Instead, the couple opted for a 2021 long-bed, high-roof Mercedes Sprinter – being able to make coffee standing up was what sealed the deal for Kit – and from there, the couple decided to take things up another notch.
Putting a call out to their creative maker community at Bridge Storage and Artspace, Kit and Jeff wanted to see who could help reimagine the trusty old Mercedes Sprinter in a new light. Who could build this out in the most stylish and comfortable way? Thankfully, Bridge member and co-founder Peter Zatopek stepped forward and the rest, as they say, is history!
