The concept for LuxVan, LLC was born during the early days of the pandemic, when many people started feeling the effects of being cooped up inside for too long. Resourceful San Francisco Bay Area couple Kit Pappenheimer and Jeff Wright’s wanderlust kicked into high gear as they reminisced and shared fond memories about their childhood experiences on the road; while Jeff loved the idea of his family’s old ‘71 Westfalia in Sierra Yellow, something told them it wouldn’t be quite the same traveling this way at this stage in their lives. Kit felt particularly adverse to “roughing it” and wanted to ensure the experience would be as comfortable as possible. >>
Instead, the couple opted for a 2021 long-bed, high-roof Mercedes-Benz Sprinter – being able to make coffee standing up was what sealed the deal for Kit – and from there, the couple decided to take things up another notch.
Putting a call out to their creative maker community at Bridge Storage and Artspace, Kit and Jeff wanted to see who could help reimagine the trusty old Mercedes Sprinter in a new light. Who could build this out in the most stylish and comfortable way?
